Lower 6th
Christmas Enterprise
Our Christmas enterprise project was making festive baguettes for staff. Two options were offered, cream cheese, lettuce and cranberry sauce or turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. We received over 40 orders. Students worked really hard collecting orders and money, shopping for ingredients, decorating the classroom then making and serving the baguettes to staff. A profit of nearly £70 was made which students have chosen to share between the 6th form and the RSPCA. A huge thank you to all the staff that supported us.
Enterprise/Money Management
We completed our first enterprise project of the year which was to make and sell Halloween cookies to raise money for Bedford Food Bank and Ridgeway 6th Form. We researched as a class different Autumnal festivals and celebrations before settling on Halloween. We then found a range of simple recipes and voted on the one we thought would make the most money but also not be too difficult to produce. Parent mails and letters were sent home to inform everyone about our project. Orders were taken first from students and then from staff. We priced the cookies at 50p, counted our orders and started baking. Halloween bags were ordered and labels made with ingredients listed in case of allergies. Students then set a date for cookie deliveries around school.
We made a total profit of just over £70.

Careers
We have been identifying and researching different job roles within Ridgeway School. This week we interviewed Vince, one of our Site Agents. Students asked questions such as:
Do you need qualifications to do your job?
Who do you report to?
How did you find out about the job?
Did you need to have an interview?
What skills and qualities do you need for your job?
Do you get time to do all your work?
What was your dream job as a child?
Vince also brought some of the equipment he uses as part of his job for the students to try and identify.
